Phil Emard draws upon his 22 years of engineering and operations management experience to help guide the AveraOpEx consultants. Phil's in-depth understanding of operations management stems from work in a wide variety of industries coupled with his formal Toyota Production System training at companies in Japan and North America.
Starting his career as a first line supervisor and progressing to Director of Operations for Lean integration at a major aerospace manufacturer. Phil relates to the myriad of operational challenges facing OpEx clients.
He has performed implementation projects for manufacturers such as Johnson & Johnson as well as health care providers including DSI Laboratories, Fairview Hospital, Stanford University Medical Center, West Tennessee Health System and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Projects include, but are not limited to, the redesign and implementation of a medical reagent formulation line, hospital laboratory, "core" clinical laboratory, operating room, emergency department, pharmacy, blood component manufacturing, administrative billing process, aerospace fabrication, aerospace assembly and cellular manufacturing for a full line of surgical garments and drapes. These projects have resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in savings.
Phil received his Bachelors of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the Oregon Institute of Technology.
