Doreen Hardy is a process excellence consultant for Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center where she leads teams through process improvement implementations to enhance patient safety and satisfaction while decreasing waste.

Doreen began working with a LEAN team in 2005 and has been a committed leader ever since.  She has been involved in and led teams from the Women's Center, Operative Services, Centralized Scheduling and nursing units.

Some of the teams Doreen has been involved with have achieved the following results: 

• improving the patient prep process time for same day surgeries by 44%, 
• reducing assessment time and improving medication administration process in the Women's Center by 55%,
• placing nursing supplies at point of use to provide 91% of patient related tasks to be performed at the bedside.

Doreen began her career with Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in 1997 as a registered nurse in the Women's Center.  She holds an associate degree in nursing and is certified in inpatient obstetrics.
